Crazy Eights...

James is eight months old.  Does that seem crazy to anyone besides me??  where did our little baby go?  He's almost a toddler!!!!  I didn't think it was possible to crawl as fast as he does...turn your head for one minute and he's hanging on the plant stand or in the bathroom trying to climb into the tub!  agghhhh!
We had to move him out of his baby tub into the full size one this week, but I didn't know how much he'd miss it!  I left it in the bathroom to dry out after the last time we used it, and a couple hours later he was back in it.  It's his new favorite toy!  He's in and out of that thing a hundred times a day.  I had to move it into the living/toy room because i was afraid he was going to fall and crack his head on the bathroom tile as much as he face plants out of it!  :-)
His other favorite toy this week is his green car.  He stands up and is working on taking some steps while holding onto it.  He also likes to put his hands on whatever toy he has, stand up, and push the toy across the room...like a bear crawl.

The day starts out with this black basket full of his toys, and after about a half an hour, the living room looks like this...I need to get a picture of him leaning over with his head in the basket!  so cute
James definitely knows his daddy!  When Steven walks through the door on Friday night, James squeals, laughs, and makes a B-Line for his daddy.   Melts our hearts!

He found Lacy's "I need to go out" bell this week too.  Don't worry, I cleaned it like crazy before I let him eat it!  :-)

Congratulations Mary!

My girlfriend, Mary, graduated from Austin Peay last week and we had an amazing weekend celebrating her accomplishment!  She earned her bachelor's in Romania, but the US didn't recognize some of the classes, so she's spent lots time and energy these past few semesters finishing that up.  Erin and I went to her graduation ceremony last Friday, then Saturday we all went to Nashville to celebrate.  We started the night at Lime, a snazzy Latin restaurant, then went to Sambuca and Cadillac Ranch to wrap up the evening.  We had an amazing time and couldn't ask for better friends to spend an evening with!
Congratulations Mary!

Disclaimer: I stole lots of these pictures from my friend's blogs since I tend to forget to get out my camera.  Sadly, some of my favorites wouldn't download onto my blog, so here are just bits and pieces of the evening.  Check out their bogs if you want to see more!

Catching up with Sara

It's official....I'm a bad friend.  Keeping up with people on a consistent basis is not something I'm very good at.  Hopefully Sara, as well as all of the friendships that I neglect, will forgive me for not keeping in touch very often.  However, I've found that true friends...no matter how long it's been...are able to pick up right where you left off.  That was the case tonight!

Sara is one of my dearest friends, she and I met at Nebraska when I was playing volleyball and she was working in the volleyball office.  We knew each other but it wasn't until we were both hired at the University of Kentucky that we really got to know each other.  She was (still is) the Director of Volleyball Operations while I was an Assistant Coach, and we spent literally every day together.  You know you've got a wonderful friend when they still like you after working together 80 hours a week, all year long!  yikes!  Thanks for still being my friend, Sara...I know I'm sometimes hard to live with!  Anyway, Sara is one of the most caring, sweet, dedicated, and fun people I know...she has that aura that makes you feel confident and special when you're around her...she is truly a wonderful woman and friend.  I miss you!!

Zoo Adventure

Last weekend we ventured out into the heat to visit the Nashville Zoo.  Since James is obsessed with watching Lacy, we thought he'd really like to see all the animals...and he did for a bit.  The problem was the heat, there was a heat index of like 105 and 95% humidity, so it was quite miserable not just for us, but for the animals too.  They were all sleeping in the shade or hiding out in a den, completely still.  Not a whole lot of action going on to keep James (or our) attention.  It was a good idea, in theory, but I think we'll wait until a nice 65 degree day in October to visit again.  :-)   It really is a beautiful zoo, so we'll definitely be going back.

This cute little meercat was sitting like this the whole time we were watching, it was hilarious!
The heat had taken it's toll and we were DONE!  James was such a trooper though, he didn't cry or fuss too much, just was miserable like this....  :-)  poor little man.

Super Sweet Seven Months

James has just been so fun lately, these seven months have flown by!  Here are a few pictures of him from the past week.

He loves to sit on Daddy's shoulders, he cracks up the whole time!
When he gets really tired, he'll let me snuggle him a little.  Oh how I miss the snuggle days....wish they would come back.......  :-(

Loves his Daddy so much!

James pulling up to standing.  He's really getting good!
We think this is hilarious...he is obsessed with this vent!  He crawls over there and either bangs on it with his hands or sits on it...so weird and funny.
He's just started to snuggle with pillows when he gets a little sleepy, super sweet.

Crazy Crawler...

One week ago James began to really crawl....no more rocking and face-planting, but actually crawling.  He's been all over the place this week, into everything, and keeping me on my toes!  He's got his little basket full of toys that he crawls up to and picks out his favorite.  He follows Lacy around everywhere, and just when he's got his little hand out to touch her, she'll get up and walk away...she really does keep him entertained!  Also, James was a great help with the laundry this week.  I had a few piles of nicely folded clothes and he plowed right over them.  I tried to keep him distracted with the laundry baskets, and that worked for a bit, until he found the stairs!  He's pulling himself up to standing, we can't believe it's happening already!  We had to lower his crib because he was climbing up the sides!  Ahhh!  Life is definitely exciting!

This picture is a little funny looking, but it was taken in the dark, the first thing in the morning when he woke up.  We moved the crib down this weekend!
